The club is speaking to zoos and lion parks to see whether the idea is a goer.

But the proposal has been described as "disgusting" and "barbaric" by some supporters.

Steele Tallon, Brisbane Lions’ communications chief, tweeted that the idea was "just a discussion point at the moment."

The club says the lion would be held captive, and pose no danger to the crowd.
AFL chief Gillon McLachlan says it’s 'pushing the envelope' but is happy for it to happen, as long as animal protection groups give it the tick of approval.

A similar stunt in the late 1970s occurred – with an elephant.... for some reason.

That elephant got away from its keeper on North Melbourne’s Arden Street Oval during a game against Collingwood.
The Lions are not the only club looking to improve its pre-match entertainment.

In the rugby codes, ACT Brumbies and Brisbane Broncos have had horses do a lap of the ground when their team scores.

And Essendon has won praise for allowing one of its fans to operate an air raid siren as the Bombers run through the banner at each home game.
