While Hawks skipper Luke Hodge answered his mid-week critics by slotting the first major of the night, Josh Jenkins was rewarded at the other end with the help of some dodgy umpring.
Grant Birchall looked to be backtracking deep in the Hawks defensive 50, and was tackled by the Adelaide big-man before the ball slid off the side of his boot and trickled out of bounds.
Much to the bemusement of the Hawks, and the Channel 7 commentary team, it was called deliberate by the umpire despite the clear pressure the Hawthorn defender was under.
