The Swans shot out of the blocks, dominating the Magpies around the ground and on the scoreboard.
However, there was one controversial moment, with a score review overturning an umpire’s call with some less-than-convincing evidence.
Swans captain Jarrad McVeigh snapped at goal midway through the first term, with the goal umpire immediately calling the kick touched off the boot.
Following a lengthy review which didn’t show any convincing evidence to overturn the decision, the umpire calling the shots did just that, and the Swans were awarded the major.

In McVeigh's post-match interview, the skipper admitted that the ball was definitely touched off his boot, but that he would take the goal anyway.
"It was obviously touched off the boot... I thought (the goal umpire) would have backed himself, I'll definitely take it though," McVeigh told Channel 7.
