Twitter responds to Carey comments about Mitchell​

Carey was embroiled in a sex scandal in his playing days with the Kangaroos, after it was revealed that the North Melbourne great had an affair with team captain Anthony Steven’s wife. 

However, Carey’s latest off-field blunder has raised eyebrows, and sent Twitter into a frenzy. 

Commentating on Friday night’s match between the Hawks and the Blues, Carey suggested that Hawthorn legend Sam Mitchell was too slow, and would struggle to get a game at any other AFL club despite the fact that he is widely considered to be one of the best players in the league. 

Carey’s suggestion came about while commentating on Channel 7, and was met with fierce opposition from his colleagues. 

Twitter also fired back at the comments, with the hashtag #thingstheducksays trending as users tweeted out ridiculous scenarios to poke fun at Carey’s strange comments. 

Even a few players got involved, with star Adelaide midfielder Patrick Dangerfield poking fun at the two-time premiership Roo.
