Here's a few to compare, and yes, we've left out his King Kong comments as that wasn't really one of his fired-up outbursts against someone.

MORE: The Big Question: How Much Are the Melbourne Stars Worth? The Repeat Set - Back for 2014

Year: 2014
Target: Tim Paine
Reason: Paine accuses Melbourne Stars of fiddling with the salary cap

"I don't know who Tim Paine thinks he is, a modern-day Kevin Sheedy or something. Mate, just stand behind there with your overgrown gloves and try to catch a couple. You won't want to drop one tomorrow, I'll be out there on the ground giving it to him.

"I take the upmost umbrage to this because I live very solidly over 15 years standing against any type of skulduggery in the salary cap in another form of life called the AFL. So, if this clown wants to just get up and sprout, then he's going to cop it right between the eyes. We've had enough.

"We'll get out there hopefully tomorrow night and hopefully flog these blokes and when we're going off the ground we'll all be pointing at him.

"It shits me in sport when people do things the right way and then suddenly everyone's pulling away 'oh it's because they've got that…', maybe (it's) because we get off our arse and do things, and build a great club."

Outcome: Unknown

Year: 2013
Target: The AFL
Reason: Eddie was unhappy the finals scheduling and the fact that a Wallabies match was being played at Patersons Stadium potentially meant a six-day break for Collingwood and a trip to Perth between the elimination final and the semi-final

"That is a perversion of the finals fixture. I have a very, very, very (strong) burning anger - I've got to be careful what I say here - of an act of treachery by the West Australian Football Commission and the West Australian state government."

Outcome: Eddie's comments were based on the assumption Collingwood would win their first elimination final against Port. They didn't.

Year: 2013
Target: Age journalist Caroline Wilson
Reason: Wilson comes up with a rumour that Eddie offered Collingwood midfielder Dane Swan to GWS in exchange for younger players. The rumour was incorrect but Eddie's reaction was true to form.

"I've always been a defender of Caroline Wilson. I know I go hard at her at different times but that last night was just puerile, muckraking, red herring, bomb throwing rubbish. She should hand back every award she's ever won for putting that stuff to air last night."

Outcome: Wilson apologises.

Year: 2011
Target: GWS
Reason: Stories the Giants were going to make a play for Collingwood's Scott Pendlebury under free agency.

"If they go after Scott Pendlebury, I will declare war on Greater Western Sydney and I will set up a tent embassy outside their tumbleweed-blown ground up there in Greater Western Sydney.

"I will steal every one of their good players for the rest of my life. I will go feral. I will make it my life's ambition to destroy them and run them into the ground. As long as they know … this is not Melbourne where you can just walk in and steal the players. If you do this at Collingwood, good luck.

Outcome: Pendlebury is now Collingwood captain.

Year: 2011
Target: GWS again
Reason: Questioning why young players would want to sign for the Giants.

"I've just a put a team together of your 17-year-olds who'll be sick of living up in the land of the falafel in western Sydney playing in front of a 12,000-seat stadium that's still not put up," McGuire said, in reference to start-up side Greater Western Sydney's young recruit.

Outcome: Accused of peddling racist stereotypes.

Year: 2010
Target: Male skaters at the Winter Olympics
Reason: McGuire and co-host Mick Molloy start making fun of the costumes worn by male Olympic skaters during their routines at the 2010 winter Olympics as part of the Channel Nine TV commentary.

"What about the fashion at the ice skating?" said McGuire said to Molloy, who replied: "they don't leave anything in the locker room, do they?"

At that, McGuire said: "They don't leave anything in the closet either."

Outcome: Channel 9 is hit with numerous complaints.

Year: 2008
Target: The Media
Reason: Reports had emerged questioning Heath Shaw's story that Alan Didak wasn't involved in a car accident following a Sunday drinking session. This session came in the wake of Didak's unfortunate involvement with convicted killer Christopher Wayne Hudson prior to Hudson going on a shooting spree in Melbourne's CBD.

"Didak will be accused of the Kennedy shooting next," said McGuire

Outcome: Shaw actually was lying and Didak was involved. Both players were suspended for the remainder of the 2008 season.

Year: 2006
Target: Jessica Rowe
Reason: Eddie is head of Channel Nine and is discussing Rowe's position with former Nine News chief Mark Llewellyn.

An affidavit from Llewellyn, who was involved in a breach of contract dispute with Nine during 2006 said: "Mr McGuire said: 'What are we gonna do about Jessica? When should we bone her? I reckon it should be next week?"

Outcome: Today co-host Rowe went on maternity leave in December 2006 but didn't return to Nine. McGuire stepped down from his role in May 2007.
