Franklin has been ruled out for the rest of the AFL season as he deals with mental health issues but that hasn't stopped vicious speculation about the reason for the former Hawk's leave.

Swans CEO Andrew Pridham chose to address the rumours to News Limited including one suggesting that Franklin was suspended from the club for having an affair with a teammate's partner.

"I've heard that one. On that specific one, I'm extremely close to the other player and it's laughable, absolutely laughable," Pridham said.

"The player doesn't even have a partner by the way, so it would be a neat trick."

Pridham was adamant all the rumours travelling the grapevine about Franklin were false, despite not having investigated them.

"I've heard all the rumours and I wouldn't say we investigate them, but certainly the most substantial and salacious-type rumours — I'm comfortable they're false," Pridham said, according to News Limited.

Franklin's fiancee Jesinta Campbell played a straight bat when asked about the speculation.

"Rumours are called rumours for a reason," Campbell said.

"(Buddy is) fine, he's getting better... he's got the best support around him and getting the best help possible."
