Gold Coast youngster Jaeger O'Meara capped off an outstanding individual season by claiming the AFL Rising Star award in Melbourne on Wednesday.

The 19-year-old received 44 out of a possible 45 votes to easily defeat Adelaide midfielder Brad Crouch (31), while Port Adelaide's Oliver Wines (26) finished in third.

O'Meara played every one of Gold Coast's 22 matches in 2013, averaging 21.6 disposals a game and booting a total of 16 goals.

It was good enough to receive maximum votes from eight of the nine judges, with former Adelaide champion Mark Ricciuto the only selector who didn't rate O'Meara as the best youngster this season.

"It's a huge honour," O'Meara told goldcoastfc.com.au

"It's extremely humbling, it's not something that you set out to achieve, but when you look around the room, and see the quality of the other nominees, it's a bit overwhelming.

"I've really enjoyed the year, it had been a big build up, but I've loved the challenge and like the team, I'm looking forward to improving again next year."

North Melbourne's Aaron Mullett (11), Sydney's Tom Mitchell (11), Richmond's Nick Vlastuin (7), Greater Western Sydney's Lachie Whitfield (3), Brisbane's Sam Mayes (1) and Collingwood's Brodie Grundy (1) were the other youngsters to receive votes.
