St Kilda sack Scott Watters

Watters has coached the Saints for the past two seasons and his future at the club began to look uncertain this year as St Kilda won just five games to finish 16th.

Just hours after Watters was on Melbourne radio denying claims of a poor relationship with St Kilda football manager Chris Pelchen, Twitter exploded with claims the Saints had sacked their coach before the club confirmed the news.

Watters claimed on Friday morning that he had the full support of St Kilda's president Peter Summers.

"When a (club) president sits with you and says we see you as a long term coach that's enough for me, I'll get on with work, with business," Watters told SEN.

The former West Coast, Sydney and Fremantle player leaves St Kilda with a 17-27 win-loss record over two seasons in charge of the Saints.

Watters took charge of St Kilda after Ross Lyon left the club at the end of 2011 to lead Fremantle.
