There is speculation the Saints board had already sounded out Mark Williams before sacking Scott Watters last Friday and the Port Adelaide premiership coach has subsequently been installed a hot favourite.

Nevertheless the club's head of football and mover and shaker Chris Pelchen will chair the committee.

St Kilda board members Andrew Thompson and Danni Roche have been appointed to the committee along with recently retired Saint Jason Blake, Geelong premiership captain Tom Harley and registered psychologist Matti Clements.

The group aims to reach a decision in time for the new coach to be at Seaford for the start of full pre-season training on November 18.

Newly-appointed fitness guru Adam Basil will take training in meantime, with first- to fourth-year players back at the club from this Wednesday.
