Scott pot shot at Pies

North Melbourne coach Brad Scott has taken a swipe at Collingwood, labelling the reigning premiers' previous refusal to wear an alternate strip as 'comical' and 'embarrassing'.

The Kangaroos have taken every opportunity this week to promote the fact that for the first time in several years they will be wearing their traditional blue and white-striped guernsey in their home game against the Magpies on Saturday at Etihad Stadium.

In home matches against Collingwood in recent years the club had been forced to don an alternative jumper, including one that was modelled on the jersey Argentina's football team wears at home, featuring pale blue and white stripes.

But while the Magpies will wear a strip this week that is predominantly black with two thin white stripes on the front and back, Scott was quick to pot the club where he spent three years as an assistant to senior coach Mick Malthouse.

"Yeah it's a massive day (for our club)," Scott said before training at Arden St on Thursday.

"It's been comical in the past, even prior to (me) coming to North Melbourne, that Collingwood just refused to wear an away strip at an opposition home game."

"It's embarrassing, so it's about time it's happened."

Scott also called on Kangaroos fans to pack out Etihad Stadium on Saturday and show their pride in the club's main jumper.

"Our supporters will turn up in droves because they're sick of being dictated to by other football sides," he added.

"So we'll turn up in our home strip and we'll wear it wide pride and we expect all our members and supporters to turn up and support us."

"It will be an unusual sight to see Collingwood supporters outnumbered by the opposition supporters."
