Roos: Our best win

Sydney coach Paul Roos rates Sunday's 39-point win over Carlton as the Swans' best for the season.

A dominant first half paved the way for the Swans' victory which has shored up the club's place in the top eight.

"I think it was our best win for the year," Roos told his post-match media conference.

"To win by such a wide margin and to put them away early was really good."

"When they came at us pretty hard after half-time ... it's easy to drop off a bit and come away with a two-goal win, so it was really pleasing we finished off the game well."

"I thought to our guys' credit that when they did come and when they were playing really good football, Carlton, we were able to respond and respond really positively, really quickly and that's certainly pleasing."

Roos said the return to form of Adam Goodes - whose 25 possessions included 12 of the contested variety - was a big factor in the result along with Kieren Jack's run-with job on Chris Judd and Rhyce Shaw's three goals.

Shaw gave an indication of what he has to offer up forward with two late goals in last week's win over North Melbourne and Roos felt it was a move worth persevering with.

"Watching him train during the week as a forward, he's got some natural forward instincts and we saw that again today, a couple of terrific marks," Roos said of Shaw.

"They really struggled on him early and they put a smaller, quicker player on him and that was a difficult match-up because he marked really, really well."

"He didn't necessarily put his hand up to play there but ... he played a super game today."

"Obviously with 'Braddy' (Daniel Bradshaw) out and 'Goodsey' going into the midfield we've got to do a few different things as well."

Roos said he was disappointed to lose defender Nick Smith to a hamstring injury that's likely to keep the 22-year-old sidelined for up to four weeks.

Lewis Roberts-Thomson, who was a late withdrawal from Sunday's match because of a hamstring injury picked up at training on Friday, is a doubtful starter for next week's clash with the Demons at the MCG.

According to the coach, however, LRT may be a chance to return for the following week's assignment at ANZ Stadium against Geelong along with key forward Daniel Bradshaw.
