Reprieve for North's Anthony

North Melbourne midfielder Liam Anthony has returned to the senior side after a four-week stint in the VFL to take on Adelaide at Etihad Stadium on Sunday.

Anthony was confirmed in the final 22, after being dropped following the Kangaroos' shock loss to the Western Bulldogs in Round 7 despite earning 27 disposals.

Coach Brad Scott was unhappy with the midfielder's quality of disposal that day, but after impressive performances in the VFL, he has warranted selection to take on the high-flying Crows.

Joining Anthony back in the side is much-maligned key position player Lachlan Hansen, who will play his first game of the season on Sunday.

The Crows confirmed Bernie Vince and Shaun McKernan would come in to the side at the expense of Chris Knights and Josh Jenkins.

In Sunday's other fixture, Greater Western Sydney have decided to rest key defender Chad Cornes for their first trip to the MCG to take on Melbourne.

Joining Cornes on the sidelines will be Andrew Phillips and Sam Schulz, with Jonathan Giles, Jack Hombsch and Nathan Wilson the three inclusions for Kevin Sheedy's side.

Demons coach Mark Neeld has once again shown no mercy in his selection by axing Cale Morton and Sam Blease from the side, with other outs Brad Green (hip) and Luke Tapscott (suspension) forced out by other means.

Coming in for the Dees are Matthew Bate, Aaron Davey, Rohan Bail and Joel Macdonald.
