Pyke takes the reigns at Adelaide

Don Pyke

Pyke takes over from Scott Camporeale who filled the vacant role following the Walsh tragedy.

Pyke takes the reigns at the Crows less than a week after tasting defeat with the West Coast Eagles in the AFL Grand Final as an assistant coach.

The 46-year-old played 132 games for the Eagles, and was a part of the club’s 1992 and 1994 Premierships. He has signed a three-year deal with the club.

He becomes the Crow’s eighth senior coach, as was earmarked as a leading candidate for the job since the death of Walsh.

The Crows job will be Pyke’s first as a senior AFL coach and he relayed his excitement in a club statement.

“After three decades at the top level in a variety of roles, I am now well prepared for the challenges and hard work that comes with being a senior coach.

“I am passionate about fostering a winning culture and united approach where everyone has a focus on doing what is best for the team.

“Adelaide has earned great respect across the AFL and there is a lot to like about the framework already in place.

“I am looking forward to working with the players, assistant coaches and other football department staff to make the most of the opportunities that lie ahead.”
