Ottens accepts ban

Geelong ruckman Brad Ottens will miss Sunday's clash with the Brisbane Lions after accepting a one-match penalty for striking.

But West Coast's Nic Naitanui is free to play against St Kilda at Etihad Stadium on Saturday night after accepting a reprimand and 93.75 carryover points for making front-on contact on Ottens' team-mate Taylor Hunt.

Ottens was cited by the match review panel for his behind-the-play strike on Mark Nicoski during the final quarter of the Eagles' eight-point win last Friday night at Patersons Stadium.

But while the grade four charge and 325 base points were reduced by 25 percent thanks to a good record over the past five seasons, Ottens would still have risked a two-game suspension if he had challenged at the tribunal.

All players charged following two separate melees in each of the Essendon-Richmond and Port Adelaide-St Kilda games accepted their fines, along with Power midfielder David Rodan who is $900 lighter in the pocket after making negligent contact with an umpire.

Richmond's Tyrone Vickery had to pay out $3000 for starting and then taking part in the quarter-time melee on Saturday night, while his team-mates Shaun Grigg, Shane Edwards and Dustin Martin were fined $1200, along with Bombers Jake Melksham, Leroy Jetta and Ben Howlett.

Paddy Ryder copped a $2100 fine for a second melee offence, as did Port's Robbie Gray and St Kilda's Sam Fisher, while Saint Nick Dal Santo received separate $2100 fines for being involved in two separate brawls.

Stephen Milne was docked $2400 for two separate charges as well while his team-mate Jack Steven and Power players Travis Boak, Matthew Lobbe, Tom Logan, Hamish Hartlett and Jay Schulz all accepted $1200 fines.
