Neeld: Tiger turmoil no distraction

Melbourne coach Mark Neeld said Richmond's week from hell has not been a distraction for his club ahead of their clash at the MCG on Saturday.

Speaking on Friday morning, Neeld was reluctant to comment on the turmoil at Punt Road that saw Daniel Connors sacked and Dustin Martin suspended for two games after they both missed training.

Those penalties came on top of the losses of Jake King and Dylan Grimes to injury and the suspension of Daniel Jackson at the AFL Tribunal, as the Tigers eventually made seven changes.

"We'll concentrate on ourselves," Neeld said when asked for his thoughts on the events at Richmond.

"I'll be able to answer questions about Melbourne.

"We always have a look at the opposition side to see what their up to with regards to selection (and) Richmond have made a few changes but we're fairly pleased with the side we've got to go up against them."

Asked whether it was a good time to be playing Richmond considering everything that has happened in recent days, Neeld added: "I find it really, really difficult to comment on other clubs and what they're up to.

"We've just had our team meeting (and) our focus is purely on us and what we want to do and the way we want to play.

"We're in a certain developmental phase and we're concentrating on that so I didn't go there with the players.

"All we did was present the selected Richmond side and just spoke about those players and their style of play, didn't mention the number of changes, I don't think that has an impact on our boys at all."

Having overcome several injuries that have hampered his 2012 campaign, former captain Brad Green needs to find form and match fitness in the VFL according to Neeld, as does Aaron Davey.

Neeld also confirmed that youngster Tom McDonald has made it home, having had to be driven back from Brisbane this week after suffering severe bruising to his lung when he copped an accidental knee from Daniel Merrett.
