McKenna keen to finish season well

Gold Coast coach Guy McKenna is eager for his side to take their last chance in making an impact on the top eight by upsetting Port Adelaide on Saturday.

The Suns cannot make the finals despite an improved campaign which has seen them win seven games in 2013.

McKenna's men face St Kilda and Greater Western Sydney in their final two matches and a victory over the Power at AAMI Stadium on Saturday is their last chance to claim a scalp this season.

"We're in a position where we can upset the formation of the eight and the eight in itself and we're pretty keen to do that," he said on Friday.

"Mathematically, three games we've got left. We want to finish as well as we started the season."

The Suns will need to cause an upset without experienced pair Campbell Brown (suspension) and Nathan Bock (leg).

He said losing 345 games of experience would make it tough for his side, but believes the younger Suns players should be eyeing an opportunity to make their mark.

"We can't replace the 400-odd games of experience with Brown and Bock going out, but what we can replace it with is some youthful excitement if you like," McKenna said.

"Timmy Sumner is going to have a full game and the other boys coming in are going to grab some opportunities and that's great for us going forward.

"They get exposed to AFL football against a finals side and on the wide expanses of AAMI Stadium. I think it's a really important stepping stone in their developments."
