Malthouse to go out kicking and screaming

This gives Malthouse two matches to supposedly prove his worth to the Carlton club, however the challenge will be tough, with the Blues set to face Sydney at the SCG on Friday night, and Adelaide at home in a fortnight.

The decision was made following a meeting between LoGiudice, Malthouse, and club CEO Steven Trigg, following rampant speculation about Malthouse’s future at the Blues.

However, this new timeline does not sit well with Malthouse, who believes that the goalposts have moved since the beginning of the season.

“I will not be standing down,” said Malthouse.

“I’m not going to let (the players) down… they deserve better.

“Good boards stay sound. Boards crack under pressure,” Malthouse concluded.

His swipe is unlikely to sit well with the LoGiudice and Trigg, however Mick seems hell-bent on staying with the club, or being removed kicking and screaming.

Speaking on Melbourne radio, Malthouse got on the front foot, claiming that the coach is almost always the first to go when a club comes under siege from the media.

The Blues 1-7 record from the opening eight rounds is Malthouse’s worst record as coach in 30 seasons at the top level.

Malthouse’s contract expires at the end of the season, but luckily for him, he’ll likely be receiving an early mark on that agreement.
