Collingwood have brought in defensive reinforcements ahead of their blockbuster clash with West Coast on Saturday, including Heath Shaw, Ben Reid and Alan Toovey in their starting side.

The trio - who all played in Collingwood's 2010 premiership - will provide stability in the back six for the third-placed Pies, who are up against the ladder-leading Eagles at the MCG in the biggest clash of Round 13.

Making way for Collingwood is the injured Alan Didak (adductor) and Ben Sinclair (ankle), while Tom Young was omitted.

The Eagles are aiming to defy a poor recent record at the home of football, and will welcome back Beau Waters and Mitch Brown to take on the high-flying Pies.

Adam Selwood (illness) and Will Schofield (hamstring) were excluded from the 22.

Sydney will welcome back co-captain Adam Goodes from a six-week layoff due to a quadriceps tear, as they host Geelong on Friday night at the SCG.

Joining Goodes in the 22 will be small forward Ben McGlynn, while Nick Malcescki and Trent Dennis-Lane have been omitted.

For the Cats, ruckman Dawson Simpson will come in for his fourth senior game, alongside speedster Allen Christensen and key forward James Podsiadly.

Out for Chris Scott's side are Jesse Stringer, Cameron Guthrie and Orren Stephenson.

Essendon have rewarded David Hille with his spot back as the Bombers' no.1 ruckman for their trip to Paterson Stadium on Saturday night to take on Fremantle.

Hille came in at the expense of Tom Bellchambers, while Kyle Reimers, Michael Hibberd and Cory Dell'Olio also earned call-ups.

Joining Bellchambers on the sidelines will be Ricky Dyson, Sam Lonergan and Alwyn Davey - the latter to a suspension.

For the Dockers, Stephen Hill (ankle), Aaron Sandilands (toe), Hayden Ballantyne (suspended) and Zac Dawson (knee) have all been ruled out, with Zac Clarke, Alex Silvagni, Jayden Pitt and Nick Lower earning spots.

The Western Bulldogs made just one change for their clash with the Brisbane Lions at Etihad Stadium, bringing in elevated rookie Tom Campbell for the suspended Will Minson.

For the Lions, Brownlow Medallist Simon Black and premiership player Ash McGrath are two handy inclusions, while Aaron Cornelius and Jared Polec got the chop.

Melbourne brought in five players for their 25-man squad to take on Greater Western Sydney on Sunday, including Aaron Davey after a three-game layoff.

Davey is joined back in the side by Matthew Bate, Rohan Bail, Joel Macdonald and Troy Davis, while Brad Green (hip) and Luke Tapscott (suspended) are definite outs.

For Kevin Sheedy's GWS, ruckman Jonathan Giles has been named in the extended squad, along with Jack Hombsch, Nathan Wilson and Will Hoskin-Elliot with Sam Schulz (calf) the only confirmed out.

Adelaide have left out agile tall Josh Jenkins for their trip to Etihad Stadium to take on North Melbourne on Sunday.

The Crows have included Bernie Vince, Brad Symes, Shaun McKernan and Tom Lynch in their squad, while the Kangaroos have added in Lachlan Hansen, Liam Anthony and Will Sierakowski.
