Upon his return to training with the Swans on Monday, Franklin said it took a great support network to get through the tough times.
"I'm feeling good," he told the Swans website.
"It's been a really hard three months for me but I'm feeling happy, healthy and I just got back from a nice holiday overseas.
"But it's good to be back in Sydney I'm looking forward to getting into training.
"I've got such a great support network around me, in my partner, my family, my friends and the football club have been terrific through this tough time.
"The support's been amazing."
Franklin also revealed the main things he's been working on during his time off.
"I'm not the best communicator, I do tend to struggle communicating with people," he said.
"Over these last couple of months it's been about building those relationships and being able to communicate a little bit better.
"It was about getting myself right, getting my health back in order, and getting back to being happy. Now I'm hungry to get back out there."
