Koschitzke: I am by no means done

Justin Koschitzke has rejected claims his AFL career is hanging by a thread and remains committed to winning his spot back in St Kilda's forward line.

The 30-year-old was suspended for striking Collingwood's Jamie Elliott in Friday night's loss to Collingwood, prompting many pundits to suggest the out-of-form veteran may never play for the Saints again.

"I am by no means done," Koschitzke told the Saints website.

"A lot of people out there are jumping to some conclusions.

"Other people are going to get their chance. But I'll be working pretty hard to get back out there and put the red, white and black on again and finish the year on a positive note," he said.

The 2001 Rising Star argued his off-the-ball attack on the young Magpie looked worse than what it was.

"It was accidental and I was just trying to check Jamie off the ball and obviously the clumsiness made it look a bit dirtier than what the intention was about," he said.

"I rang Jamie the next day, I was concerned about him and made sure he's OK. I made sure he understood I didn't mean anything harmful by it and he understood that."

Koschitzke has always battled inconsistency with injury and suspension a regular feature of his 12 years in the game.

But with 197 games to his name, he is committed to forcing his way back into Scott Watters' team.

"I've got to turn it into a positive now, I've got two weeks to go and train and let my actions do the talking and really help the young kids," he said.

"That's got to be my role in the next couple of weeks - to make sure the club goes forward and get myself in the best position to be selected again after the suspension's finished."
