Kerr inks new Eagles deal

West Coast star Daniel Kerr looks certain to end his AFL career as a one-club player after signing a two-year contract extension.

Kerr would have qualified as an unrestricted free agent at the end of this season, but has put pen to paper on a deal that will keep him at the Eagles until the end of 2014.

The announcement comes as the 29-year-old prepares to play his 200th AFL game against North Melbourne at Blundstone Arena in Hobart on Saturday.

"It will take me until I'm 31 and I'd like to do one more deal after that but we'll have to see how the body is holding up," Kerr said on Thursday.

"I'm obviously very proud to make 200 games. I made 150 reasonably quickly and then the body put the brakes on.

"At times I didn't think I'd make it to 200, but it's nice to get there."

Kerr's career was in limbo two years ago when he tore the hamstring off his bone while kicking a ball.

But the premiership midfielder has since returned to fitness and form, with Eagles coach John Worsfold suggesting Kerr potentially had 'another 40 or 50 games in him'.

"He's had a remarkable career considering the setbacks he's had along the way," Worsfold said on Wednesday.

"He was a massive contributor to the club in winning a premiership and playing in two grand finals.

"He was a massive contributor in helping the club rebuild after the tough period, and a good character to have around.

"He's answered a lot of questions about whether he'd ever get back to playing his best football.

"I certainly always believed that he would and it's great to see him doing that with a lot more to come."

Kerr, who made his debut for the Eagles in 2001, has played every match this season, averaging 20 disposals per game.
