North Melbourne has announced the delisting of five players, only one of whom, veteran forward Corey Jones, has retired.

The players given the chop are Josh Smith, Warren Benjamin, Alan Obst and Conor Meredith.

Recruited from West Perth, Smith played 11 AFL games over three seasons and Obst five after coming to Arden Street from Central Districts via the 2008 rookie draft.

Neither Benjamin nor Irish recruit Meredith managed to play a senior game.

Jones played 157 games and kicked 216 goals after being drafted by the Kangaroos with pick 60 in the 2000 national draft.

The 29 year-old notified the club of his decision to retire ahead of last Sunday's round 22 match against Melbourne.
