Goodes has been booed by opposition fans at every match he has played since he celebrated a goal with an indigenous war-dance against Carlton way back in round nine.

Some eight weeks later, Jetta has made a stand by celebrating his last quarter goal with a similar rendition of Goodes' war dance.

Swans coach John Longmire said that Jetta was visibly upset with the constant booing of Goodes - a long-time mentor of Jetta’s at Sydney.

“(Jetta) wanted to celebrate the goal and he wanted to stick up for a mate,” Longmire said in his post-match press conference.

“He was upset… I spoke to him after the game and he was upset at the booing.

“He’s had enough of it and he is obviously pretty close to Goodesy and he celebrated the goal and that’s how he acted.

“Lewis is a young kid who has come to Sydney and Goodesy has been such a powerful figure for him and he was reacting and trying to show his support for a mate of his.”

Eagles coach Adam Simpson acknowledged that he had no issue with the goal celebration, and wasn’t sure himself why Goodes was being booed.

“I didn’t know what was going on there,” Simpson said after the match.

“I’m sure it’s the minority, and for the most part we respect Adam and who he stands for and what he does… I was sort of hoping we would be better than that.”
