Campbell, fiancee of AFL superstar Lance Franklin condemned the booing of Goodes before thanking him for the stance he has taken on Indigenous peoples’ rights in Australia.

Campbell was particularly strong in her words, acknowledging that the booing of Goodes had negatively impacted on other Indigenous players in the competition including her husband-to-be Franklin.

“Booing is a public form of bullying and Adam has come out and said that it is affecting him,” Campbell said.

“Everyone needs to stop.

“It’s affecting his welfare, it’s affecting his family and his friends and it needs to stop.

“To anyone who has never experienced racial vilification, racism is just a word to them, but for people who have experienced it, racism is a feeling and it is a horrible feeling from what I have seen.”

Campbell, 23, was applauded on set for her stance on the matter and concluded by thanking the two-time premiership player and dual-Brownlow Medallist for his leadership.

“I have to thank Adam Goodes, because my future children are going to be indigenous and because of his courage and passion, he is creating a better future for not only my children, but all indigenous children.

“Adam, you are a champion, on the field, off the field and I will stand by you.”
