Roughead used his leg to trip Melbourne's Dom Tyson during the Hawks' easy win at the MCG on Saturday.

His pending suspension has implications for the Coleman Medal, with Roughead (55 majors) leading the goal kicking tally from Port Adelaide's Jay Schulz (53).

Should he accept the ban, Roughead will miss Sunday's match against top aspirant Fremantle in Perth.

Roughead was the only player to be offered a penalty from Round 20.

Geelong's Steve Johnson was cleared for the minor kicking contact he made with Fremantle forward Lachie Neale's head.

Teammate Travis Varcoe and Fremantle's Nat Fyfe and Nick Suban have escaped sanctions for wrestling.
