Carlton have confirmed key forward Jarrad Waite will miss up to a month of football after sustaining cartilage damage to his hip.

Waite was substituted at the 25-minute mark of the second quarter in Sunday's 27-point loss to Western Bulldogs at Etihad Stadium.

The 28-year-old underwent scans on Monday to determine the prognosis and will consult with a specialist on Tuesday to determine whether he requires minor surgery to repair the damage.

Waite, who has kicked 16 goals in 12 games this season, only returned to the side a week ago after missing three weeks with a hamstring injury.

In a further blow for the Blues, midfielder Andrew Carrazzo has also been ruled out of Saturday's blockbuster against Collingwood at the MCG.

Carrazzo was a late withdrawal from the Bulldogs' loss after injuring his calf at training the day before and will not recover in time for him to be selected against the Magpies.

The 27-year-old has been one of Carlton's prime movers this season, averaging 23.5 possessions per game.

The pair join Shaun Hampson (knee), Michael Jamison (knee) and Simon White (hamstring) on the injury list.
