Injuries catch up with Port

Port Adelaide duo Jay Schulz and Hamish Hartlett are at least three weeks away from making a return to senior football.

The pair were both injured in Port's 38-point loss to the Western Bulldogs on Sunday, with Schulz suffering internal bleeding after a collision with team-mate Justin Westhoff.

Schulz spent time in intensive care after the match before being moved to a general ward in a Melbourne hospital.

Although Port have a bye this weekend, they expect to be without Schulz for three to four weeks, which would rule him out of a trip to Geelong and a Showdown against Adelaide in Round 15 at the very least.

"The bleeding has stopped and we're hoping he'll be released within the next 24-48 hours," Port Adelaide head fitness coach Cam Falloon told the Power website.

Hartlett suffered a grade one to two hamstring tear in the same match, and the severity is high, with the midfielder scheduled to spend four to five weeks on the sidelines.

Falloon is confident Hartlett - who has played every game in 2012, averaging 20 disposals in an impressive season - will bounce back from the problem.

"He's played every game this year and hasn't had a soft tissue injury for a couple of years, so it was just one of those things that happen in footy," he said.

"He's had a good attitude to recovery in the past so I've got no doubt he'll be back."

Midfielder Steven Salopek will face a fitness test this week on a knee injury, while Paul Stewart and Jacob Surjan - who suffered hamstring tightness and a knock to the head respectively in Sunday's loss - have been clear to play in Round 14 against the Cats.

But coach Matthew Primus believes key midfielder Travis Boak won't be fit again until the Showdown as he recovers from foot surgery that has kept him out for the last two games.
