Hardwick: No excuses

There were no complaints and no excuses from Richmond coach Damien Hardwick after Saturday's 82-point drubbing by Collingwood at the MCG.

While he had hoped for a better showing from his Tigers, Hardwick conceded the contest was a fair reflection of the gap between the ladder leaders and the competition's 15th side.

"Their ball use was exceptional, their hardness around the contest and their pressure was first class," Hardwick told his post-match media conference.

"We really found it tough to get out of our defensive 50 at stages so, all credit where credit's due, they are a terrific side and that's why they're top of the ladder."

"I thought we fumbled a lot around the scrimmages and they took the ball away from us and the next thing you know they're out the other side."

"Their ability to run and create from a scrimmage situation is first class and we'll learn some things from the game."

Hardwick said he was especially disappointed that the Tigers were held goalless in the final term.

"Something we've tried to take on board a little bit is to try and set that tone of winning behaviours and fighting out the game," he said.

"We probably haven't done that the last two weeks which is disappointing, but we'll address it during the week."

Asked whether he thinks it may be difficult for the Tigers to recapture the energy and enthusiasm that sustained them through their recent four-game winning run that was brought undone by the Kangaroos last week, Hardwick said: "No, I don't think so."

"Our guys, to their credit, have remained really positive."

"Granted, we've copped a kick up the backside the last two weeks but we'll address the situation, we'll look at some things that went wrong."

"There were still some positives, I thought Dave Astbury was good and (Alex) Rance did some nice things also."

Hardwick said Daniel Jackson would return from suspension for the club's next assignment against Adelaide at the MCG on Sunday week, while defenders Kelvin Moore and Will Thursfield are also likely to be available.
