MORE: Hunt names NRL and AFL players in explosive drug claims

The Sunday Telegraph revealed explosive claims from Hunt including allegations that Suns player and a current NRL player were involved in drugs.

Suns CEO Andrew Travis vowed to investigate the allegations made against the Gold Coast player.

“We clearly have issues we need to deal with," Travis said.

”The club has a new CEO and a new coach this year.

“As new CEO, I am demanding higher standards and making sure we hold ourselves to account when we do not deliver on those standards.

“I will be investigating these allegations, and will provide further advice to our supporters and members as appropriate.”

Gold Coast captain Gary Ablett also weighed into the issue, denying that the Suns had a drug culture at the club.

Ablett's leadership has been in question recently after his integrity was questioned by Brisbane Lions legend Jonathan Brown.

The dual-Brownlow medallist was adamant he had no knowledge of Hunt's allegations and said the leadership group would meet with the club on Monday to discuss the facts.

“No I definitely wasn’t part of that and I had no idea anything like that was going on,” Ablett told 3AW.

“I’ve never seen anything like that going on and I think it would be wrong for me to comment because it’s been something that’s written in the paper and I want to make sure the facts have been put in front of the whole leadership group and we’ll work out the process that we go through from there.”

The allegations come as the Gold Coast celebrated their 100th AFL game with a loss against Carlton at Etihad Stadium.
