Geelong's ex-Kangaroo Hamish McIntosh nervous ahead of North Melbourne clash

Hamish McIntosh

PREVIEW: Geelong Cats v North Melbourne Kangaroos

After not playing an AFL match since Round 7 of 2012, McIntosh has played in Geelong’s first eight games this season.

“It’s going to be weird, when you play there for 10 years you have a lot of great relationships and great mates but obviously I’m very keen to have a win and make sure I get the brownie points and can brag amongst the boys for the next couple of months,” McIntosh told SEN on Thursday.

Geelong is warm favourites for the match Simonds Stadium despite facing a six-day turnaround following its 32-point loss to Fremantle in Perth.

“We’ve actually got a pretty good record off six day breaks. With the program we’ve got in place we are really confident with what we have done training wise and how we have recovered this week that we’ve done our preparation right to come out and play our best footy tomorrow night,” McIntosh said.

“It's a tough challenge always going interstate for any game, but especially over to Freo who play a really good contested defensive sort of game.

“It was disappointing, our first quarter especially to give them that lead, and we could never peg it back after that and that five goal margin stayed for the rest of the game.”

“We’re pretty keen after a loss and with the experienced players we’ve got, we’re pretty proud of how we play, we’re pretty confident of how we’ll play tomorrow night.”

The Kangaroos have beaten Geelong two of the past three times, with the Cats’ victory coming in the infamous close encounter at Etihad Stadium last year when the roof was controversially left open despite rain in the last term.
