Melbourne livewire Aaron Davey has been ruled out for the remainder of the season with a fractured left leg.

Davey sustained the fracture during the first quarter of Sunday-s 21-point loss to Hawthorn at the MCG and with the Demons all but out of the finals race, his season is over.

Scans on Monday confirmed he would miss at least 4-6 weeks of training, but he is expected to suffer no long-term effects.

"It-s disappointing for Aaron, but he-ll be able to complete a full pre-season and it won-t hold him back for his 2011 campaign," football operations manager Chris Connolly told melbournefc.com.au.
