Dangerfield deal struck between Crows and Cats

The Cats will surrender picks nine and 28 in this year’s national draft, along with youngster Dean Gore to the Crows in exchange for Dangerfield.

In return, the Cats receive Dangerfield, along with the Crow's third-round draft pick.

Gore is yet to make his senior debut - after being picked up by Geelong at No. 55 in last year's draft - however was on the verge of senior selection late in 2015.

The South Australian native is highly regarded among football circles, and was a standout at the 2014 AFL National Championships as well as playing 12 games for Sturt in the SANFL in the same year.

Dangerfield's desire to move to the Cats was the worst kept secret in the AFL throughout 2015, before he officially announced his desire to exercise his rights as a free agent at season's end.

However, the Cats opted to trade for Dangerfield, rather than make an offer for the superstar midfielder.

"All along we were intent on doing what was in the best interests of our club, and we have been able to deliver the best possible outcome," Crows head of football David Noble said.

"Securing picks nine and 28 allows us to add some more quality talent to our playing list, while Dean is a young man who has the makings of a long-term player.

"I would also like to acknowledge Geelong for the professional manner in which these negotiations were handled."
