Carlton to unleash Chris Judd, Matthew Kreuzer, Dale Thomas in pre-season

Chris Judd

Kreuzer and Thomas have been on the comeback trail from foot and ankle problems respectively this summer while the battle-weary Judd is in the middle of his 13th pre-season.

In all, Carlton had 19 players undergo post-season surgery but Wiley insisted all of them were progressing well in their recoveries.

"He's just about back in full training so he's on target to play practice games and that's what we're after," Wiley said of Kreuzer at Visy Park on Tuesday.

Wiley also said Thomas was 'every chance' to face North Melbourne in Ballarat on February 15.

"Daisy (Thomas) is going really well, his training last week was probably the best he's had," Wiley said.

"We've said all along he'd be ready for Round 1 and nothing's changed there."

And while 30-year-old Judd might have started showing signs in 2013 of the strain associated with being his team's most targeted player for the last seven seasons, Wiley stressed the importance of the dual Brownlow medallist having as much match practice as possible leading into the new campaign.

"Whether you're into your 14th (or) 15th season or whether you're into your first, it's about getting enough game time so that you're ready," Wiley said.

"Chris probably had one (pre-season) game last year and probably wasn't quite enough."

Carlton's second scheduled practice match is against Adelaide at Etihad Stadium on February 24.
