Buddy joins the 700 club

Franklin became just the 21st player in the history of the game to achieve the milestone, and it was fitting that it came against his old side whom he had so much success with.

The three-time Coleman Medallist nailed his second major of the game halfway through the second quarter, after the Swans were left shell-shocked early with Hawthorn piling on six first quarter goals to Sydney’s none.

Franklin certainly enjoyed the moment, with an appreciative Sydney crowd applauding the milestone with great voice.

Only two players who have kicked 700 careers goals are not currently in the AFL Hall of Fame.
