Brennan quits Brisbane

Jared Brennan has played his last match for Brisbane with manager Tom Petroro confirming he has requested an early release from his contract with the Lions.

Brennan, selected at No.3 in the 2002 national draft, will leave the Lions after 119 games.

Gold Coast and Carlton have reportedly emerged as potential new homes for the 26-year-old.

Gold Coast coach Guy McKenna says Brennan would be a welcome addition for the Suns' first season.

"If he's up for trade and he wants out of Brisbane, well naturally we'd be a player in that," McKenna said.

"He's a quality player, he's displayed that and his best football is probably ahead of him."

"We'd be certainly interested in someone's talents of Jared Brennan for sure."

The Suns are unable to sign Brennan in the same way as they acquired Hawthorn's Campbell Brown, Port's Nathan Krakouer, Nathan Bock from Adelaide and Michael Rischitelli from the Lions who were all uncontracted.

Gold Coast are only allowed to sign one off-contract player from each club so a play for Brennan can only come about from a trade of draft picks to the Lions.
