As you were for prelims

Speculation about personnel changes ahead of this weekend's AFL preliminary finals has come to nought with three clubs, Collingwood, Geelong and St Kilda announcing unchanged line-ups.

And the only side to make a change, the Western Bulldogs, made just the one - Dale Morris in for Mitch Hahn.

Collingwood named midfielder Sharrod Wellingham who had been in doubt for much of the past fortnight after turning an ankle in the club's big qualifying final win over the Bulldogs.

But the Magpies selectors decided not to risk veteran defender Simon Prestigiacomo who has been sidelined since Round 20 because of internal bleeding in his left quadriceps.

'Presti', the most experienced player on the club's list, wasn't even named as an emergency for Friday night's clash with the Cats.

Tyson Goldsack will cover in defence if any late changes are required.

Paul Medhurst and Tarkyn Lockyer are the Magpies' other standbys.

Much of the focus at Geelong this week was on how they could accommodate two-time premiership defender Andrew Mackie who was dropped for the club's semi-final win over Fremantle.

Like Presti, Mackie missed the cut but, unlike Presti, he has been named among the emergencies with Mark Blake and Taylor Hunt.

In going in with an unchanged line-up for Saturday night's clash with the Bulldogs, the St Kilda selectors have overlooked veteran defender Steven Baker who hasn't played since Round 13 because of suspension and injury.

But the Saints have hedged their bets by naming Baker as an emergency along with Jarryn Geary and Jack Steven.

Before training on Thursday, senior coach Ross Lyon said it would be a close call on Baker.

"There's a lot of match-ups for him and he's a really respected player, but the other side of the coin is he's missed nine or 10 weeks, whatever it is, and there's players who've been playing quite well," Lyon said

"He'll bring some good things if we bring him in and there'll be some risks if we do as well so there's a lot of pros and cons."

Skipper Nick Riewoldt said he hoped a way could be found to fit Baker in.

"He's a guy that you'd love to go to war with," said Riewoldt.

"He'd jump on a grenade for you, he's that sort of player."

"If there's a spot for him in the team, he'll be welcomed."

Morris' selection for the Western Bulldogs is conditional on passing a fitness test on Friday on the neck injury he picked up against the Swans in Round 22

Riewoldt said he's expecting Morris to play.

"We've played on each other the majority of times the two teams have played over the last few years," Riewoldt said.

"We've played on each other a lot, we know what to expect from each other, he's a great competitor."

Hahn, who has played in the Bulldogs' past four matches after missing six weeks with a hamstring, fills a spot among the emergencies along with Andrejs Everitt and Josh Hill.
