The AFL was quick to apologise after accidentally announcing Sam Mitchell as the Brownlow winner before counting had finished.
Human error led to a Sam Mitchell Brownlow memorabilia jumper being released online before eventual winner Nat Fyfe picked up the award.
It’s fair to say the NRL ran a much more impressive ‘Dally M’ awards night and after a long history of playing second fiddle to the AFL, NRL fans finally had a something to smile about.
