AFL Preview: Round 6

AFL Round 6

MORE: Collingwood v Geelong | Fremantle v Essendon

North Melbourne vs Richmond, Saturday Afternoon 1:45pm, Blundstone Arena

After being dismantled by Hawthorn, the Roos get a shot at redemption against an opponent they should beat. The Tigers have had a jarring start to the season, and Hardwick knows that the clock is ticking if he can’t put the club back on the rails soon. 2-4 for the loser, should be an interesting contest.

Western Bulldogs vs St. Kilda, Saturday Afternoon 2:10pm, Etihad Stadium

The Bulldogs hype train is gathering more passengers by the week, and why the hell not? They play exciting, brave and know there is absolutely nothing left to lose. The kids (The Bont, Stringer, Jong) throw everything at the contest, and to be fair so did the Saints kids on Sunday against Essendon. Two months ago this was a likely game to decide the spoon, but looks like the Dogs might be playing for more than pride.

Greater Western Sydney vs Hawthorn, Saturday Twilight 4:45pm, Spotless Oval

No Hodge, No Lewis, No Lake, No Frawley. Hawks are a talented team and got the job done last week, but there is a question of when there is a tipping point of missing talent. Lucky to have a few easy ones before their big grand final replay in a few weeks, but there’s a huge opportunity for the Giants if they can put together a four quarter performance.

Gold Coast vs Adelaide, Saturday Twilight 5:10pm, Metricon Stadium

Gold Coast got off the board this week against and equally hapless Lions outfit, but it’s still not the end of their worries. Their football is still largely patchy and the Crows will likely exploit it, hurting from two losses in two weeks.

Melbourne vs Sydney, Saturday Night 7:45pm, MCG

Paul Roos coaches against his old club again, and knows that the challenge of last week against Freo is just as big here. The Dees after starting the season okay were incredibly poor on Sunday, whilst slipped up against a buoyant Dogs. Sydney in a canter.

Swans by 45.

Carlton vs Brisbane, Sunday Afternoon 3:20pm, Etihad Stadium

This should be an interesting game of football for all the wrong reasons in the world. Leppa and Malthouse are under huge pressure and both sides are playing diabolical football. Perhaps not one for the neutrals.

Blues by 29.

Port Adelaide vs West Coast, Sunday Twilight 4:45pm, Adelaide Oval

West Coast continue their erratic ways, smash the bottom sides and lose to the good teams. The Power should account for the Eagles here, and with the draw opening up for them should hit form at the right time.
