Van Berlo only managed eight senior appearances after being struck down by injuries during 2011. He is a tough disciplined defender and is regarded as one of the hardest workers around the club. Van Berlo spent some time in attack in 2011, a highlight was kicking four crucial goals against the Bulldogs in Round five. But he failed to build on that performance and struggled to establish himself in the squad after that.
