Captain since 2009, Newman ended the 2011 season with a nagging injury but managed 17 games for the year. One of the more underrated leaders in the league, he continues to provide an example of composure and character. Barring any serious injuries, the skipper should go on to play his 200th game for Richmond and will be aiming to lead his side into the top-eight for the first time since 2001.
