After an injury interrupted pre-season, Rioli missed Round 1 and was slow out of the blocks. He got better as the year went on, averaging career-high numbers for disposals, contested possessions, clearances and tackles. He was introduced in the midfield, but that didn't affect his ability to impact the scoreboard, booting 27 goals - ranked third at the club. He booted multiple goals on six occasions with two four-goal hauls his best returns, while his chasing and harassing was a strength, ranking third at the Hawks for tackles. Rioli is expected to have a greater involvement in the midfield in this season.
