Rangy in stature, Goldsack's versatility in a number of roles, most notably as a shut down player, has seen him notch up 69 senior appearances for the Magpies since 2007. With inconsistent seasons in 2008 and 2009, a fairytale 2010 season saw Goldsack miss the drawn Grand Final, only to replace Leon Davis in the Grand Final Replay, with his injection off the bench seeing him kick the first goal of the day. Struck down by Glandular Fever in early 2011, Goldsack still made 13 senior appearances for the year, before being named an emergency in the Grand Final.
