Hawkins performances in the 2011 final series were exceptional and it is fair to say he has come of age as a strong-bodied and contested-marking forward. He ripped apart the Collingwood defence on Grand Final Day, taking nine marks, racking up 19 touches and booting three pivotal goals. He was the x-factor that helped his side win the premiership. He kicked 27 goals for the year in his 18 appearances and now has the confidence to become one of the game’s leading power forwards.
