After struggling with the Cats for five seasons, West finally showed his capabilities of matching it with the big boys in the ruck and gave vital support to Brad Ottens in the latter half of the year. He didn’t break into the side until round 17, but he made the most of his opportunity and held down his position to play out the remainder of the season which culminated in the ultimate glory. Showed he has great marking strength and will now shoulder the responsibility as the number one ruckman following Ottens’ retirement.
