Richards finished a career-best fifth in the club's best-and-fairest award last year after he was given more responsibility in the Swans backline. Although he conceded the most goals at the club, Richards impressed with his versatility to play on the likes of Jonathan Brown, Patrick Dangerfield and Nick Riewoldt and finished third at the club in marks (107). A safe user of the ball, Richards also finished with a career-high number of intercept possessions during the home-and-away season to exemplify his ability to read play well. Played all but one game in 2011 and will be looking for a similar 2012.
