Full of heart and courage, Ball's hardness at the contest and overall tenacity has seen him quickly become a valued member of the Pies midfield unit. Since crossing from St Kilda at the end of 2009, Ball has gone from strength to strength, relishing his role inside the centre square which saw him finish fourth in Collingwood's Best and Fairest for 2011. A premiership player for the Magpies in 2010, Ball was St Kilda's Best and Fairest in 2005 and was Saints' captain in 2006 and co-captain with Lenny Hayes the following season.
