The durable Cornes had a below-par season by his high standards, playing 17 games – his lowest tally since 2002. He still averaged a respectable 22 possessions per game and finished fourth overall for total disposals, but the three-time best and fairest winner, two-time All-Australian and 2004 premiership hero was dropped to the SANFL so he could attempt to recapture his form. Following some in-club turmoil and speculation over his future in late 2011, Cornes remains committed to the club he has given so much to.
