McGuane, a regular in the Tigers’ back six, managed 14 games last season but was unable to string together a consistent year. He often took the opposition’s best forward and his ability to spoil is a vital aspect of his game. Deprived of key defenders last year due to injury and suspension Richmond will need McGuane to step up his game in 2012 and become a permanent fixture in the side.
