Two Demons injured in loss

Melbourne's troublesome pre-season campaign continued on Saturday with two players suffering shoulder injuries in the two-point loss to Adelaide in a NAB Challenge match in Elizabeth.

Liam Jurrah, who dislocated his shoulder, and Daniel Bell, who dislocated his AC joint, will both get scans on Sunday to assess the damage.

The injuries come after promising youngster Cale Morton was ruled out for 10 weeks with a knee injury.

Adelaide forward Kurt Tippett bagged five goals in the 9.15 (69) to 10.7 (67) victory, while Ricky Petterd slotted four for the Demons.

Hawthorn will also be licking its wounds after midfielder Brad Sewell and ruckman Simon Taylor both suffered injuries in the Hawks' 40-point loss to North Melbourne in Ballarat.

Taylor was stretchered from the field in the second quarter after falling awkwardly in a collision with Leigh Adams, while Sewell has a suspected collarbone injury.

Daniel Wells kicked three goals in his first pre-season match of the year as the Roos won 12.11 (83) to 6.7 (43).

Elsewhere, West Coast thumped Carlton by 39 points in Leederville with Mitch Brown booting three for the victors and Nic Naitanui again impressing.

The Brisbane-Geelong match at Visy Park was cancelled due to Melbourne's wild hailstorms.
