Swans v Kangaroos, snippets
TURNING POINT: The Swans' four-goal blitz to start the third term proved the difference as the hosts stole all the momentum to turn a 10-point-half-time lead into a 13 point advantage in the space of 11-minutes.
CLASSIC GRAB: Adam Goodes' grab early in the third term was pure courage. The Swans veteran had eyes only for the ball as he followed the flight towards the Kangaroos goal square to take an inspirational grab in heavy traffic. His ensuing goal gave the Swans their first lead of the contest - a lead they would maintain for the remainder of the contest.
STAR MAN: He had plenty of help from his team-mates but key forward Barry Hall almost single-handedly turned the contest in the host's favour kicking two of his three goals on the night in his side's early third-quarter blitz. While the big man was clearly frustrated throughout the first half, he managed to put his trademark aggression to good use and in the process gave his team-mates the lift they needed after the main break and set up an emphatic victory.
ABSOLUTE SHOCKER: The goal umpires obviously had rain in their eyes throughout the opening half as first Brent Harvey was awarded a goal that shouldn't have been, before his team-mate Matt Campbell was awarded a point despite clearly splitting the sticks. Harvey's first major of the night was controversial to say the least as the gritty veteran appeared to make contact with the ball well after it had travelled through the sticks off the hands of a Swans defender, while Campbell's second-quarter snap crossed well inside the big sticks only to be adjudged a minor score by the man with the best view in the stadium.
UNSUNG HERO: Young-gun Kieren Jack finished the match with three goals but it was his job on Daniel Wells in the second half that is most deserving of praise. Jack was shifted onto the Kangaroos' leading possession winner of the first half (15) and nullified his presence in the final two quarters by restricting him to a further two possessions for the match.
